This card stinks. There’s no way around it. One fight was cancelled, three fighters missed weight, and the card was already one of the worst in recent memory before any of that happened. The only reason you should watch tonight, is if you have the itch to gamble. That being said, its against our religion to let a UFC card go without a wager, so here’s some help on where you should put your money.
The main event features former title challenger and #1 ranked Flyweight Jessica Eye battling Strawweight contender Cynthia Calvillo, who is making her debut at Flyweight after having problems with cutting weight to the 115 pound Strawweight limit. Eye, who has had her own problems cutting weight in the past, has missed weight once again for this contest, making it two of her last three fights that she has missed weight.
Jessica Eye has not finished a fight in her last 9 appearances, with her last two wins coming in close decisions over Katlyn Chookagian and Viviane Araujo. Though she is the number one ranked Flyweight, there is a massive gap between her and Flyweight Queen Valentina Shevchenko which was put on display in her Round 2 KO loss to The Bullet.
Cynthia Calvillo has only lost once in her seven UFC appearances, to former Strawweight champion Carla Esparza. She boasts a win over future Flyweight challenger Joanne Calderwood, and has finished the fight in three of her five UFC victories. The move to Flyweight was a necessary one, and with a win over Jessica Eye, could be the turning point in her UFC career.
Jessica Eye looked sickly during her weigh in where she missed weight by a quarter of a pound. The cut clearly did a number on Eye’s body and will be a factor in the contest tonight. Cynthia Calvillo will wear the 125 pound Flyweight limit well, and have the biggest win of her career against Jessica Eye. Cynthia Calvillo by 2nd Round Submission.
Cynthia Calvillo -130 and U4.5 +155. Hammer it.
1-1. She almost had that R2 submission though.
